Violet was a caregiver. She helped various Aledo families in addition to working at the Fortner Shelter and Care Center, the Aledo Health Care Center and the Mercer County Nursing Home. Violet was also employed at the Oak View Country Club in Aledo and the Henderson Ford Co.
She was a member of the American Legion Fallerans Post 121 Auxiliary. Violet enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include four daughters, Debra (Doug Furne) Bewley of Aledo, Diane Glidden of Little York, Suzette (Bill) Griffin of Davenport, Iowa, Annette Lawrence of Galesburg; one son, Jim Glidden of Keithsburg; one daughter-in-law, Laural (Bill) Dixon of Joy; stepchildren, Tom (Kate) Leonard of Joy; Richard Leonard, Jr. of Davenport; Marion Chard of Reynolds; Lois (Dan) Sproston of Seaton; Terry (Stephanie) Leonard of Joy; Ivan Leonard of Aledo; 16 grandchildren, many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
